We wholeheartedly embrace the teaching of the NCMI team on the subject of church governance. We believe in the autonomy of the local church under the direction of biblically qualified elders. We gratefully accept the godly service of deacons as serving the church. We thank God for his gift of apostles, prophets, evangelists, shepherds, and teachers to the local church (Ephesians 4:11). New elders are to be appointed by “trans-local” apostles at the invitation of the elders.
Although the local church is autonomous it should not be completely independent nor unaccountable. We partner with the NCMI team to bring outside influence, perspective, and accountability along with national and international ministry partnership opportunities.
Jeff & Elaine Paetkau
Heading the call of God, Jeff & Elaine and their three kids planted Broken Bread in January 2019. Their heart is to see the name of Jesus proclaimed, live life in gospel community, and serve their city, nation, and world.
Right now Jeff is the sole elder at Broken Bread. However, we believe in governance by a team of elders (supported by the deacons) and regularly pray that the Holy Spirit will bring and help develop future elders and deacons.
